Lace up your bushwalking boots and venture out from your luxury accommodation at Cradle Mountain Chateau. See Gondwanan vegetation fringing mountain pools, hear the cry of currawongs in the forest. Or go bushwalking, climb high and gaze across an ice-carved world on your Cradle Mountain holiday.

The Overland Track from Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair is a true wilderness walk which travels through spectacular dolerite mountains, near beautiful waterfalls, through a variety of fascinating ecosystems, before finishing at Australia's deepest lake, Lake St Clair.

Not far from the Chateau, in the foothills of the Great Western Tiers of Cradle Mountain, boutique vineyards grow the grapes that make some of the island's best sparkling wines.

The famous Dove Lake circuit walk is a magnificent way to take in the breathtaking surroundings of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. Or walk to Marion's Lookout passing though spectacular landscapes of Lake Lilla, Wombat Pool and Crater Lake. The National Park is a haven for wildlife, experience close encounters with wombats, wallabies and there's every chance to spot a Tasmanian devil.

The Chateau is also home to The Wilderness Gallery, which boasts the nation's finest collection of nature and environmental photography, and the fascinating Tasmanian Tiger Exhibition
